Recipe: Humble Hummus Recipe

This makes a healthy and easy dip, snack or side dish and always tastes better when you make it yourself! Hummus is a fantastic way to incorporate more legumes into your diet increasing your plant-based fibre, iron and protein. 

Ingredients: 

  • 1 can chick peas or alternatively can use 125g dried chick peas soak over night and then boil for 1 hour

  • 1 tablespoon tahini

  • juice of 1 lemon

  • 2-3 garlic cloves

  • 1 teaspoon salt

  • pinch of cumin

  • water

  • dash of cumin and paprika and olive oil to decorate/garnish

Prep time: 10mins

Method:

  • Blend chick peas in a food processor with tahini, lemon juice, garlic and salt. This will take a good 5 minutes but keep an eye on the consistency and add water as required until it is as smooth/lumpy as you like it.

  • Add salt to taste.

  • Transfer to a serving dish and add a dash of cumin and paprika on top followed by a splash of olive oil.
