Gut Health

Gut health is fast becoming one of the most investigated areas of research, with evidence mounting almost daily to support its role in optimising and maintaining both mental and physical health. A happy and healthy gut and gut microbiome are thought to be at the heart of overall health and wellbeing with evidence suggesting gut health can impact almost every one of our bodies systems from immunity, appetite, and mental health, to skin health and autoimmune conditions.

The Gut microbiome is affected by many things, but diet is one of the most important and easiest to modify. Important dietary aspects include fibre, pre and probiotics, fermented foods as well as more specific food components like fermentable carbohydrates (such as FODMAPs).

Optimise Your Gut Health and Improve Your IBS

The most common gut related symptoms are bloating, constipation, gas, diarrhoea, abdominal pain and urgency, and these are often signs and symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). Experiencing any of these symptoms can be life altering and have hugely negative impacts on your quality of life.

The good news is that although the cause of IBS is not exactly known, diet and lifestyle changes can make a huge difference to symptoms. A dietitian can support and guide you to make the right changes for you and Claire is trained and experienced in advising on the low FODMAP diet.

If you find yourself silently suffering with abdominal pain, bloating and anxiety, with diarrhoea or constipation, flatulence or any other gut symptoms get in touch with Claire.
